Mayor Sandra Bury and Director Jim Deiters will lead a discussion of the book Dopesick: Dealers, Doctors, and the Drug Company that Addicted America, by Beth Macy. The book is an examination of the opioid epidemic from an award-winning journalist and masterful storyteller. Macy spent six years following families affected by the crisis gathering personal stories embedded in an examination of the crisis - a crisis everyone knows about but few deeply understand. This book follows how this crisis began, how it has persisted, and how it has become so entrenched in our cities and towns. It is an informative, troubling read, with lots to talk about.
